Creating a Caring Community of Learners

This highly interactive presentation introduces participants to a wealth of children’s literature for developing social skills and demonstrates how appropriately selected books can be used to promote healthy interpersonal relationships in the pre-k through fourth grade classroom. Topics such as bullying, empathy towards others, cultural differences and healthy expression of emotions, among others are discussed. The National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies Themes of Culture, Individual Development and Identity, and Individuals, Groups and Institutions are addressed in this presentation.
