Senator for a Day: Fostering Civic Engagement

Students can acquire an understanding of how to engage in the civic life of their communities by becoming a Senator for a day. This session describes how the experiential learning programs at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate help middle and high school students develop skills for civic participation by learning about the Senate, working together to considering legislation, and thinking about ways they can make a difference in their communities.
