E PLURIBUS UNUM. The Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies (Mass Council, or MCSS) is proud to be hosting the 49th annual Northeast Regional Conference for the Social Studies for K-12 teachers and college and university faculty in the New England states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, and the states of New York and New Jersey!

Social Studies is a large academic field that includes history, geography, economics, civics and government, archaeology, and the behavioral sciences such as psychology and sociology. Collectively, Social Studies is intended to prepare students to hold the “Office of Citizen” and is essential for responsible citizenship in areas such as history and government, geography, economics, sociology, and communication. Social Studies creates opportunities for students to apply critical thinking and content knowledge to analyze information on complex issues and to seek solutions to real-world problems.

The Northeast Regional Conference for the Social Studies (NERC) is the largest regional social studies education conference in the country, serving the New England states, New York, and New Jersey. Now in its 49th year, NERC is a showpiece of the best social studies educators and education in the region and the nation!

This year’s NERC will be at Framingham State University (McCarthy Center, 100 State Street) in Framingham, Massachusetts on March 18 & 19, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Framingham State University will house the exhibits and all professional meetings and special events. The exhibits will be located on the main floor (third floor) where attendees must walk through to get from workshop sessions to dining annex where the keynote addresses and luncheon will be held.

Featuring dozens of local, regional, national and global brands, NERC provides a great opportunity for your business to promote and sell your products and services to hundreds of K-12 social studies classroom teachers, department heads or chairs, supervisors, coordinators, directors, principals, and superintendents across the northeastern United States.

Vendors and sponsors traveling from out of state can arrange lodging at Crowne Plaza Boston-Natick (link), which is about a 3 to 4-minute drive from Framingham State University, using the NERC conference rate of $169+tax per room per night, which is available from Sunday, March 17, to Tuesday, March 19. PLEASE NOTE: CONFERENCE RATE IS GOOD UNTIL FEBRUARY 18, 2019 SO RESERVE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
