Following the initial launch of the Indian Ocean in World History interactive website in November 2008, the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center (SQCC) proudly announces that this innovative, educational website has been upgraded with major new features and additional content. Educators will find it an even more effective tool for teaching about this major arena of global historical exchange. New features include improved integration of text and image, and the ability to move popup boxes on the maps for optimal viewing with the geographic location of the icon in view. Key word searches now produce a user friendly guide that has search results catalogued by era. Our new search engine allows users to locate, for example, stories of trade in commodities, or to trace themes in documentary history on the ocean. The drop down menu bar is organized for ease of navigation among individual era maps, downloadable lesson plans, quizzes and worksheets.
