Economic Forces in American History from the Foundation for Teaching Economics

ECONOMIC FORCES IN AMERICAN HISTORY FROM THE FOUNDATION FOR TEACHING ECONOMICS Economics Forces in American History (EFIAH) is a cross-curricular program designed to help history teachers incorporate an economic way of thinking into their American history courses. In-depth content instruction is provided by economic historians while skilled mentor teachers lead participants through interactive lessons. The lesson plans are designed to develop the tools of economic reasoning in the context of specific historical periods and broad historical themes, encouraging students to learn by ‘reliving’ history rather than just reading or hearing about it.

Program content is tied to the national standards in economics education and is also correlated with each state’s standards in economics education. Both new and experienced teachers will benefit from attending this program. Visit www.fte.org/teachers/programs/history to view activities and topics presented in EFIAH.
