On the second Friday of every month. the galleries, gift shop and post office will be open until 8:30. Admission after 5:00 will be half price for adults $2.00 for seniorsand no charge for teachers. Children are always admitted free. Education Director Henry Lukas says he hopes this extended opening will allow people who have busy weekend schedules to now have some time to visit and see all that the Museum has to offer. He reminds people that “you don’t have to be a stamp collector to enjoy the Spellman.” There will be special activities for children on these Friday nights including free stamps. Teachers will receive information about how they can use the resources of the Museum in their classrooms. The Museum’s Post Office will be open to allow people to purchase current stamps although it cannot accept packages or process registered mail. During October the Museum is celebrating National Stamp Collecting Month and is featuring several unique collections of some of its members. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite. Also in the galleries is the Museum’s exhibit celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. Regular Museum hours are Thursdays to Sundays from noon to 5:00. A free stamp show is held the second Sunday of each month. People with collections can also schedule an appointment for an evaluation. For more information call 781-768-8367 or www.spellman.org
