awardsDon Salvucci Award for Excellence in Promoting Civic EducationDon Salvucci was a president of MCSS in the 1970s and his passion was civic education. In his honor an award was created in the area of citizenship education. Because of the broadness of the category, it could be awarded for accomplishments in a number of academic areas and activities, but it is always for a classroom teacher who emphasizes and teaches the importance of democratic ideals and responsibilities.
