Who we are
The Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies (MCSS) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit educational organization. It is a network of social studies educators who work at every level of schooling. They communicate with each other through conferences, publications and meetings. They broaden their communication by working with related professional associations, government, and private agencies.
What we do
- We advocate for social studies educators across the state of Massachusetts in the areas of education legislation, resources for educators, and services that improve the quality of history education for our students.
- We provide meaningful, quality professional development through collaboration with public and private school educators, colleges and universities, museums, historical organizations, government, and other non-profit organizations in order to
- We provide access to education resources to social studies educators for direct use in the classroom. We inform our members with current research in the field of history education and the social sciences. We publicize and curate resources shared from social studies educators on social media.
